BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF OCEAN COUNTY is celebrating an “Evening with the Stars", with a Cocktail Reception on July 14th at 6:00 p.m. at the Crystal Point Yacht Club, Route 70 & River Road in Point Pleasant. Special invited guests are: Tony Siragusa, former NFL player and Super Bowl Champion from the Baltimore Ravens also current Fox NFL Reporter; Jim Dowd, Philadelphia Flyers, former NJ Devils Stanley Cup Champion; Pepper Johnson, former NFL player and Super Bowl Champion from the NY Giants and currently the Defensive Line Coach for the New England Patriots; Joe Klecko, former ‘77-‘87 New York Jets and part of the famous "New York Sack Exchange". The event is sponsored by OceanFirst Bank & Barlo and Associates, Architects and Abatare Builders. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. In addition to the opportunity to meet numerous celebrities, guests will be invited to participate in a silent auction consisting of an array of great prizes and 50/50’s. The BRICK TOWNSHIP ROTARY CLUB is holding their 24th Annual Bullet Proof Vest Fund featuring Dr. Cheeko. This event will be held at the VFW Post 8867 located at 373 Adamston Road in Brick on July 25th beginning at 7 p.m. Cost is $30 per person and there will be a hot and cold buffet catered by Mulberry Street, cash bar, door prizes, raffle and a 50/50. All the proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to purchase vests and tactical equipment for the Brick Township Police Department and their canine unit. The LAKEWOOD BLUECLAWS announces that four members of the 2008 BlueClaws had been selected to the South Atlantic League North Division All-Star Team. The All-Star game took place on June 17th at New Bridge Bank Park in Greensboro, NC. Outfielder Michael Taylor and designated hitter Mike Durant were both named as starters, while pitcher Drew Naylor and catcher Joel Naughton appeared as reserves. The north won the game for the third year in a row and has tied the South 7-7 since the All-Star Game shifted back to a North-South format in 1995. The North out-hit the South 18-9 and scored at least two runs in six of the eight innings they came to the plate.

OCEANFIRST FOUNDATION of Toms River has awarded a $5,000 grant for major sponsorship of the Governor’s Teacher Recognition Program in Ocean County. The grant will provide operation support to the annual program that acknowledges school teachers who exhibit outstanding performance in the classroom. One teacher from each of the public schools in Ocean County has been selected for this recognition and was honored at a special ceremony on May 23rd.
